Community Stuff began life as a volunteer organisation in 2013 and we are now a registered CIC. Our mission is to improve the lives of everyone living in our community through positive action and community involvement. We believe that people own a stake in their community, and that by working together we can improve all of our lives.
Clare comes from a family of artists and ran her own private art school in Surrey for 15 years. On moving to Eastbourne she wanted a change, and trained as a cookery leader. Clare and Sue met whilst both being involved with helping set up Devonshire West Big Local project. They decided to get together and set up Community Stuff, and make a difference in their local community in these difficult times.Clare has a lifetimes experience in session delivery, is a mental health first aider, and loves working with people.
Sue Morris has worked with children of all ages for over 30 years. She was Eastbourne Play Ranger for three years, in which time she held lots of events around the town. She is the Activity Workshop Leader for Community Stuff and has extensive experience with arts and crafts. Sue is a trained Cookery and Play work leader, holds a First Aid Certificate, is the Lead Child Protection Officer for Community Stuff.
Helen McCabe is Chair of Community Stuff, as well as having her business Helen Owen Marketing Enterprises (HOME) CIC, a charitable company that provides work experience and training for people who are struggling to find work. Helen is Talktalk’s 2015 UK Digital Hero.
